Abstract

In spite of the sensitization from plants, a diagnosis of photo-dermatitis from triamterene seems evident. triamterene is a pteridine derivative, a potassium-sparing diurette, which inhibits sodium resorption and potassium secretion in the distal tubule. It is a weak diuretic and has usually been employed in combination with benzothiadiazine derivatives to potentiate the natriuretic effect and decrease the potassium effect. Among the adverse effects are nausea abd vomiting, diarrhea, hypotension, headache and dryness of the mouth.
