Earth Sciences for societal and economic benefits.

The article discusses the role of the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India, to provide services for weather, climate, ocean, hydrology as well as exploration and exploitation of the marine living and nonliving resources. Topics include systematic efforts to augment observations, develop adequate modeling strategy, conduct research and invest in human resource development, and strengthening of the present climate services.
