Repensando imágenes para el arte rupestre del sector septentrional de la Sierra El Alto-Ancasti (El Alto, Oriente de Catamarca, Argentina).

This paper presents a synthesis of new theoretical and methodological approaches to go deep in the analysis of the rock art at the northern area of Sierra El Alto-Ancasti, Yunga environmental area, located in the east of Catamarca (North-West Argentina). This review of the traditional approaches applied to image and rock art studies is the starting pointed this paper, analyzing its application to rock art studies at the Sierra’s northern area. Afterwards, new visions and information that enlarge the knowledge about this subject are presented, considering those interesting to rock art analyses from sites of the studied area.
