Abstract
- The article presents a report on works undertaken by the new environmental minister of Hungary Miklós Persányi. He intends to direct his activity towards the preparation of the Hungarian environmental sector to the new challenges that Hungary will be facing once in the European Union. LIFE for the year 2003, the Commission has approved one project under the LIFE Nature programme along with four projects under LIFE Environment programme. The project, LIFE Nature--Restoration of Pannonic Forests and Grasslands on the Szénás Hills seeks to restore the Pannonic oak woodlands and dry grasslands on the Szênás Hills near Budapest, which have great botanical value but have suffered from forestry practice and are under threat from the expanding suburbs of Budapest.
