Abstract

The main discussion of this subject is the Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio access technology and especially its Physical Layer (PHY), also the analysis of multiple antenna performance of LTE. The PHY model of LTE can be best understood by studying PHY's most useful four sections, which are Orthogonal Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), modulation, turbo coding and link adaptation. Reviewing OFDMA, modulation, turbo coding and link adaptation, that are main leading parts of PHY, helps the PHY of LTE to be fully realized. Protocols of data communications needed for the uplink (mobile to base station) and downlink (base station to mobile) communications are defined by LTE standards. In this study OFDMA, MIMO, Turbo Coding and link adaptations were briefly explained and, the SNR-BER performance analysis for multiple antenna usage in LTE was performed by processing 50 million bite data. The BER performances were simulated by MATLAB for each SNR value under 8 repetation, 16-QAM or QPSK modulation, 1/3 Turbo Coding rate parameters. In simulations, 10 MHz band width value in the standards was achieved. In the graphical results obtained for different modes, the same coding rate, jamming, CRC, Turbo Coding, 16-QAM and QPSK modulation parameters were used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
