Abstract

The article focuses on the Barcelona Blood Transfusion Service, created by Doctor Frederic Duran i Jorda, supported by the Ministry of Health of the Spanish Republica, during the Spanish Civil War from 1936-1939. Topics addressed include amount of blood collected as a result of blood donations, and features of the donor card created by the Service.
