Abstract

The article discusses the history of the origins of inertial navigation and the role played by scientist Charles Stark Draper in it. Topics discussed include Draper being an expert in aircraft instrumentation, and Draper's hiring of former doctoral student Walter Wrigley to study the possibilities of the inertial navi­gation system.
