Abstract

Nowadays, the Social Cartography is seen solely as a new tool to the planning and the social transformation, being based in the investigation/participative action and local development. The social groups are the authors of the maps, all of the process of representation and the building of territorial knowledge and built in collectivity. The present paper seeks to present a series of theoretical/methodological reflections regarding the possibilities of organizing participative mappings. In regards to the methodological procedures, the theoretical framework was based in the studies of Gorayeb; Meireles (2014), Gorayeb; Meireles; Silva (2015), Acselrad; Coli, (2008), amongst others. The Social Cartography presents itself as a very important tool, since it promotes an articulation between knowledges and understandings through the setting of an accessible language in regards to the representation of the reality by means of cartography.
