Abstract
- This article focuses on teats and pacifiers as allergy risk of infants. At the Department of Occupational Dermatology, Karolinska Hospital, patients with suspected latex allergy are prick tested with extracts from latex gloves and with latex directly from the tree Heva brasiliensis. Less-sensitive RAST technique to identify IgE antibodies against latex was also used. Findings indicate a possible exposure of latex allergies early in life to infants, with a potential risk of developing IgE antibodies.
