Abstract

The environmental issue involves every different social areas and it has been highlighted over the last decades, since there is a possibility of extinction of natural resources and consequently human extinction. This current study presents a discussion about sustainability and environmental education, highlighting the necessity to (re)construct an environmental awareness on people, using education to develop a perspective that could change reality. The link between university and public school is a potential changer, thus, this paper shows results of the university extension action of the Green Room Jellyfish project, bound to the Laboratory of Geoecology of Landscapes and Environmental Planning (LAGEPLAN) in the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), that in recent years has developed its activities inside of public schools in Fortaleza-CE and its metropolitan area, taking the discussion over the impacts of human activities to natural resources, resulting in education about social responsibilities and environmental preservation.
