Abstract
- Reports that the music recording industry will target Internet piracy in Europe, largely based on the positive results of lawsuits in the United States. Comments from Allen Dixon, general counsel of the London-based trade group International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, regarding the likelihood of lawsuits; Statistics related to the revenue-loss in Europe as the result of illegal file-sharing; Percentage drop in 2003 U.S. music sales, indicating they were much smaller than in Europe and are seen as a motivating factor in the decision of European-based industry officials to file lawsuits; Number of legal music download sites available in Europe.
