Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine effect of using the seven principles for good practice with cooperative learning method to achievements of middle school students and to research the applicability of the seven principles in primary education. İt was determined two experiment groups and one countenance group. The first experiment group is Cooperative Seven Principles Group (CSPG, N=16) which seven principles for good practice were used with cooperative learning method and the second experiment group is Cooperative Learning Group (CLG, N=22) which cooperative learning method were used. The unit was taught using cooperative learning method in CLG. Each item of the seven principles scale was integrated into the unit processed which taught using cooperative learning method in CSPG. The Control Group (CG, N=20) was not intervened, the unit was taught according to the current science education program of Ministry of Education. Before the study, the prior knowledge test was applied to the groups for determine the students' prior knowledge. And the seven principles scale was applied for determining students’ views related to seven principles applications. After the study, the academic achievement test was applied for determine the change in students' academic achievement, the seven principles scale was applied again for determine the change views of the implementation of the seven principles. At the end of the study, the findings were indicate that the seven principles applicable in middle school and the seven principles increase the middle school students' academic achievement.
