The article analyzes how some urban spaces that had connection with the French intervention and the Second Empire were demolished to prevent the exercise of memory, however were others whose commemorative purpose had to do with the reconciliation between France and Mexico. Emphasis is placed in the case of Mexican French mausoleum, space in which, the stoicism with which the French Legionnaires fought death, became the virtue that deserved to be remembered through a monument.
