Abstract

The finding that human survival depends on conservation of the environment has given rise the awareness of need was to preserve it. Of the tools used to achieve this goal was the establishment of the National System of Conservation Units. The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha has natural scenic beauty and a variety of forms of marine and terrestrial life, which justifies the existence of two protected areas in its territory: the Environmental Protection Area (APA) and Fernando de Noronha National Marine Park (PARNAMAR) Fernando de Noronha. Restricting access by directing the occupation and use of natural resources, conservation units existing in Fernando de Noronha has contributed to guarantee the conservation of the environment in that area for present and future generations.
