Designing and Using Computer-Based Systems.

This article focuses on designing and using computer based systems. Most of the standard texts on the design of computer based systems take it for granted that the development of computer-based systems is a technical activity, office systems users are the recipients of technology, and users engage with an already completed artifact. Some of the systems development research from the 1980s and early 1990s identified that in many cases, what was taken for granted as use of technology was actually hidden design work.
