Abstract

This article focuses on the high incidence of sensitization to turpentine in Spain. The subject was reviewed by the GEIDC, which concluded the Canadian turpentine used for their standard series should be changed to Scandinavian turpentine. The reasons for the change were the following: First, the Scandinavian turpentine is more frequently used in Spanish industries; Second, there is a high percentage of a-pinene in Canadian turpentine and only 47.88% in Scandinavian; Third, there is a low proportion of limonene in turpentine and 5.98% in Scandinavian turpentine.
