Development and characterization of ten polymorphic SNP markers in growth-related genes for the channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus (Rafinesque, 1818).

The article presents a study which described polymorphic single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers in growth-related genes of the channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus found in various parts of the U.S. between 1997 and 2004. The variables considered include estimated breeding values of base population of the sample specimens, breeding procedure followed, and genetic preservation. The use of polymerse chain reaction (PCR) in gene amplification is discussed.
