Abstract

Three-component condensation of thiourea, ethyl acetoacetic ester, and anisaldehyde was performed to synthesize ethyl-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate. This compound interacted with aromatic aldehydes to yield the corresponding styryl derivatives. The hypotensive activity of the compounds synthesized here was assessed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
