Abstract

A series of novel, structurally related AB2 monomers was synthesized and incorporated into branched materials. Size exclusion chromatography was used to compare these systems based on their relative hydrodynamic volumes. The results of these studies indicated an increased hydrodynamic volume of bis-benzyl amine based AB2 monomer relative to analogous bis-benzyl ether structures. In order to further explore the bis-benzyl amine AB2 structural motif, additional monomers were synthesized, leading to new branched materials and hyperbranched polymer structures.
