Abstract

Religion is both a source of peace and violence with important significance in the public sphere, because of the link with human aspirations for peace before the advent of secular movements and ideology. Thus religion has come to play a major role in international affairs, particularly in the modern trends especially when directed towards human problems, on the back of failed attempts to build a better world but without churches and to remove from the individual's existence their faith which means a formidable force the in world affairs. Religion is always a central actor in the war, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism or Buddhism by revitalising moral values necessary for the war machine or the terrorist network. The emergence of the European Union raised the issue of its relations with the religious institutions; in the first decade of the existence of the European Communities religious issue was absent from their domestic agenda. With the increasing emphasis on European integration, it begins to develop interaction between EU and religious institutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
