Abstract
- Iodine–magnesium exchange occurs upon treatment of 3-iodomethyl-1-oxacyclopentanes with alkyl Grignard reagents or trialkylmagnesate. The resulting organomagnesium compounds undergo intramolecular nucleophilic substitution in ether to afford cyclopropane skeletons in a stereoselective manner. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
