Abstract
- The article profiles David J. Kasik senior principal scientist, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group and Bryan T. Preas principal scientist, Xerox PARC contending for the post of western region representative of Association for Computing Machinery. Kasik has done his B.A., Quantitative Studies from the Johns Hopkins University in 1970 and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado in 1972. Kasik has been the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group Information Systems architect for software engineering, geometry and visualization and user interface technology since 1991. He is currently the system architect for a cross-BCAG project that will allow more than 10,000 users to access required applications and data from any desktop computer. He specialized in computer animation, computer graphics and software engineering. He has published numerous papers and taught short courses on user interface management systems. Preas received his BSEE, with highest honors, from Texas A&M University in 1968, his MSEE from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1969 and his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1981. Preas was awarded the Humboldt Foundation Senior Scientist Prize and spent in the 1990 at the University of Paderborn, Germany, working on computer design methodology and electronic publications.
