Abstract

The article discusses the school improvement program used by the Calcedeaver Elementary School in Mount Vernon, Alabama. It focuses on how the rural school, predominately populated by Choctaw Indian students, used community and culture to improve academic achievement and graduation rates while better utilizing the skills of veteran staff members.
