ASSESSMENT FEATURES OF COAL MINING ENTERPRISE COMPETITIVENESS.

Competitiveness is an insufficiently studied category now. There is no single conceptual unit of competitiveness and the technique of enterprise competitiveness assessment has not been worked out thoroughly in the economic literature yet. However, in general increasing competitiveness of the Russian economy with a particular focus on the mining industry is paid much attention by the government. The paper considers the issues of the Russian coal enterprises competitiveness. The various definitions of production and enterprise competitiveness are analyzed. The author presents his own definition of the coal enterprise competitiveness. It has been found out that competitiveness is not only multilevel category, but it is also the category which should be defined concerning each segment of the market in which enterprise operates. The main markets of the Russian coal enterprises are characterized. The key indicators are given and they should be taken into account for determining the coal enterprise competitiveness in various markets. The competitiveness assessment of the leading Russian coal enterprises in the foreign and domestic markets has been made. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
