Abstract

The article discusses significant gap in the numeracy national benchmark test results between non-Aboriginal and Anboriginal students in Australia with suggested strategies on how to narrow the gap. Topics include the reference to misunderstandings of Australian Aboriginal number system as reported by John Harris., Aboriginal people's desire to literate their children to Western education while maintaining Aboriginal culture as well as the Torres Strait Island Perspective on mathematics.
