Abstract

The article highlights the measures that will be taken by Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. to make amends for its sale of its slaves in 1838. Topics discussed include admissions preference to be given to the slaves' descendants, the establishment of the Study of Slavery, creation of memorial to enslaved people, and renaming of two campus buildings. it also cites efforts by Clemson University in South Carolina and the University of Virginia to deal with their ties with slavery.
