Abstract
- Skull base fractures extend through the floor of the anterior, middle, or posterior cranial fossa. They are frequently associated with complex facial fractures and serious complications such as cranial nerve or vascular injury, cerebrospinal fluid leak, or meningitis. Several distinct patterns of skull base fractures have been recognized, each of them associated with different complications. Recognition of, often subtle, skull base fracture is essential to prevent or allow early treatment of these serious complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
