Abstract

The article discusses the Atlanta, Georgia, loop trial the Atlanta BeltLine and its potential role in connecting neighborhoods and reducing sprawl in the Atlanta area. According to the article, plans for the BeltLine call for converting disused railway beds into a pedestrian and bike path and streetcar line in order to effect urban revitalization. The article examines population growth in Atlanta, the role of urban planner Ryan Gravel in formulating plans for the path, and the quasi-governmental agency Atlanta BeltLine Inc.
