Abstract

The transcriptome of the Procypris rabaudi'whole tissues was sequenced using Illumina high-throughput sequencing approach in order to investigate useful information of P.rabaudi transcriptome and discover functional genes.We obtained a total of 64 257 918 expressed sequence tags and 83 252 unigenes which ranged from 201 to 16 572 bp, with an average length of 787 bp. By similar searches based on Nr database, overall 37 157 unigenes(44.63 %) were found orthologous to known protein sequences.29 919(35.93 %) unigenes were assigned Gene Ontology(GO) functional annotations which were divided into 3 categories( biological processes, cellular components and molecular functions) with 56 branches. A total of 17 869 unigenes(21.49 %) were categorized into 26 KOG classifications and19 270 unigenes were assigned to 267 predicted KEGG metabolic pathways which could be divided into 5 categories( cellular processes, environmental information processing, genetic information processing, metabolism and organismal systems). Using high-fluxed sequencing technology, our results would provide a rich source of data to understand transcriptome information of P.rabaudi, discover and identify new genes, characterize gene expression and make the first step for further genomics researches.
