The treatment of flexor tendon injuries remains a challenge for all involved; therefore, good anatomical knowledge, a precise operative procedure and excellent postoperative physiotherapeutic and ergotherapeutic care are important to achieve a good functional result. Up to now no consensus has been reached or a high level of evidence achieved concerning the suture technique and suture material. Nevertheless, a 4-strand core suture with a circular running suture represents a good compromise. This achieves a sufficiently stable situation to be able to initiate early functionally active mobility to prevent adhesion between the tendon and the surrounding soft tissues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
