Abstract
- The article focuses on a whistleblower case concerning alleged doctored data used by a researcher at Duke University to help secure 200 million dollars in grants from U.S. federal agencies. It states that following the arrest of biologist Erin Potts-Kant in March 2013 on charges of embezzlement, 15 of her papers dealing primarily with pulmonary biology were retracted due to unreliable data. It reports a former colleague filed suit under the U.S. False Claims Act concerning over 60 grants.
