Abstract
- This research aims to analyze the theme of "animal" in the contemporary works, in terms of modern art and the plastic approaches of the artists. When it comes to the theme of the art works and the techniques, the artist in the modern art is considerably liberal. Human and humanistic themes compose the subject area of the artist. Being a part of the nature, animals are also taken as a subject in several art works. The theme of "animal" has been an image of art as a mythological, religious, psychological, symbolic and stylistic element in different eras and various art works. Within the research, works which were produced in different fields of modern art (painting, sculpture, installation) including the theme of "animal" have been analyzed. Chosen from the history of contemporary art, these works are described and the role of the "animal" theme in the modern art is evaluated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
