Abstract

The analysis within the following study looks upon the essential phenomena regarding the Historic-Critical Pedagogy as a school and educational scientific advance. The concept of Historic-Critical Pedagogy has been used since 1979, and in 1991 professor Saviani presented the book Historic-Critical Pedagogy: First approaches, demonstrating such approaches as a transforming and critical education, which has as its core the "production mode". The debates show the hegemony of the progressive thinking within the theoretical discussions. The book finds itself within the historical materialism as the theoretical basis, which tries to seek the objective movement of the historical process. Such theory conceives MAN through the dialectichistorical materialism, which overcome the theories that do not value the daily social practice. The Historic- Critical Pedagogy prioritizes the scientific contents, study methods, abilities and the scientific thinking habit as a way to form the critical awareness regarding the social reality by using MAN as a an important player in history who is able to transform society and himself.
