Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) Design Techniques and Performance Evaluation.

The article examines the MAC protocol design issues for a wireless body area network (WBAN) based patient monitoring system. Also cited are the classifications of MAC protocols, namely, scheduled MAC protocols, and the random access MAC protocols, as well as the key requirements of a WBAN, including the ability to operate in a power constrained environment and the ability to support various medical applications.
