Abstract

The article discusses a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system used to analyze ultrasound images of carotid atherosclerosis and classifies them into symptomatic and asymptomatic types based on their textural features. Also cited are the three modules of the CAD system, namely, preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification, as well as the use of the AdaBoost and Support Vector Machine for automated decision making in the classification of the images.
