Abstract

Objetive: To determine the influence of family dysfunction and depression in the early onset of alcohol use among adolescents. Materials and methods: observational, descriptive and transversal research on a sample of 299 adolescents selected by simple random sampling. Results: 72.9% adolescents and consuming alcohol. This was self-induced in 39.45% of them, 33.49% by a relative and 27.06% for (a) friend (a). 63 (28.9%) of adolescents with depression said they had started drinking (p = 0.001). Conclusion: There is a relationship between depression and early onset of alcohol use among adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
