Abstract: This section offers news briefs on infectious diseases as of August 2016. Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison have found that the presence of Zika virus inside the body of pregnant monkeys is prolonged compared to monkeys that are not pregnant or male. Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified components of immune systems in patients who were able to survive the Ebola virus disease (EVD).
