Abstract
- The detection of H 2 S gas at low concentrations for the diagnosis of halitosis is examined. The H 2 S sensor is composed of CuO nanorods decorated with Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles. Diagnostic sensors must be able to detect gases in low concentrations. Therefore, to produce a highly sensitive device, CuO nanorods were decorated with metal oxide semiconductor nanoparticles, which doubled the sensitivity. In addition, the selectivity of the sensor improved in comparison with that of the bare CuO nanorod sensor. Here we report the fabrication and testing of a hybrid-structured gas sensor for detecting H 2 S gas at low concentrations. Furthermore, we report the mechanism by which the sensitivity of the composite sensor is improved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
