Abstract

The article discusses natural hazards and disasters that may cause the extermination of the human species. Topics discussed include geomagnetic storms that can be triggered by the eruption of coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun which could destroy of thousands of power transformers, the prevention of collision from large asteroids or comets, and the explosive eruption of a supervolcano.
