Green Supply Chain Management Research: An Assessment of Global Publications Output during 2006-15.

Abstract

The present study examined 1325 global publications on "Green Supply Chain Management" as covered in Scopus database during 2006-15. The study reported 24.66% annual average growth rate of publications and citation impact of 11.784 citations per paper. The global publications on "Green Supply Chain Management" came from 73 countries, of which the top 10 accounted for 84.15% of global publication share during 2006-15. A total of 372 organizations and 160 authors participated in global research on "Green Supply Chain Management" during 2006-15, of which the top 15 most productive organizations contributed 20.38% publications share and accounted for 55.16% citations share. The top 15 most productive authors contributed 14.19% publications share and accounted for 49.39% citation share. The China is world leader in research output on "Green Supply Chain Management", followed by USA etc. Business, management & accounting registered the highest publication share (42.49 %), followed by decision science (21.96%), computer science (21.58%), environment science (16.91%), social sciences (11.47%), economics, econometrics & finance (8.30%) and energy (8.08%) during 2006-15. Of the 1325 publications on "Green Supply Chain Management", 755 appeared in journals, 354 in conference proceedings, 140 in book series, 54 as books and 22 in trade publications during 2006-15. 137 journals contributed to research on "Green Supply Chain Management" during 2006-15, of which the top 20 most productive journals together contributed 38.94% share of global journal output, increasing from 35.19% to 39.97% from 2006-10 to 2011-15. Of the 1325 global publications on "Green Supply Chain Management", there were 39 top high cited papers (with 101 to 840 citations), which together received 7454 citations, leading to average citation per paper of 191.13. The authors suggest the need to accelerate the pace of research on this subject and indicate that results of this Scientometric analysis has helped us to identify the research direction of green supply chain management research and provide a valuable tool for researchers to access the literature in this area.
