Abstract

In this paper, an analytical study of the high-power microwave oscillator—reltron, has been presented. The basic device operating principle has been briefly discussed considering the multiple resonating modes, i.e., 0, $\pi $ /2, and $\pi $ , in the side-coupled modulating cavity. The device oscillation condition has been analyzed and used to define the range of RF phase variation in the modulating cavity for sustained oscillation. The analysis has been extended further to obtain the electronic efficiency of the reltron. The analytical device efficiency has been found in agreement of $\sim 7$ %–10% with the previously reported experimental results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
