The objective is to analyze the economic ownership of telenovela gender by the culture industry and discuss the social relevance while the main program of mass entertainment in the country. It is a investigation by the cultural phenomena under late capitalism, from the theoretical indications by Ernest Mandel, Fredric Jameson and Georg Lukács, and the constitution of this analysis in brazilian reality, being as focus the analysis Rede Globo de Televisão's telenovelas.
