Abstract
- In transverse and longitudinal sections of buds and long shoots of Pinus nigra, invasion by hyphae of Scieroderris lagerbergii was investigated. It was found that the blade margins of scales, which surround the needle primordia, are first invaded by hyphae. In December the hyphae grow into the living, chlorophyll containing parenchyma cells of scales. Upon infection with Brunchorstia pinea conidia in July 1974 hyphae were found by the end of August 1974 in cells of the epidermis and hypodermis of the 1974 long shoots.
