Abstract

TiH 2 particles have been treated by oxidation and coating treatment, formed a SiO 2 /TiO x composite layer on the surface TiH 2 particles, which could effectively delays the gas evolution of TiH 2 particles. The morphology of oxidized TiH 2 particles is similar to as-received TiH 2 particles, when further coated TiO x /TiH 2 particles with SiO 2 , the surface becomes smoother. At 650 °C, the low-level decomposition platform time of gas release is retarded over 180s. When progressive coating with SiO 2 , the low level decomposition platform time is prolonged, however, the total amount of gas release is decreased. A balance between the delay in gas evolution and the total gas release is best achieved by oxidation with 400 °C/6h + 500 °C/1 h and coating with 50 mL Na 2 SiO 3 (0.5 mol/L). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
