The essay deals with an original topic in social studies: the street life of Italian internal migration youth in Turin. Starting from the sixties youth gangs have been considered in some classic urban anthropological studies. Indeed they are a still existing phenomenon in Europe often concerning first and second generation migrants. The fieldwork was basically focused on Turin's suburbs, in particular on certain public housing-neighborhoods. Data are based on judicial files and judgments of the Juvenile Court of Turin. Furthermore the paper presents for the first time the results of a census carried out in the archives of Turin's Istituto Penale per Minori Ferrante Aporti concerning the youths jailed in 1979.
