The authors reflect on the impact of human-associated bacteriophages and its possible consequences for human health. A background of the therapeutic use of bacteriophages is provided as well as the possibility that human diseases have phage-drive origins. Also examined are phages in the oral microbiome, gut microbiome, vaginal microbiome, and skin microbiome.
