Abstract

In 2015, cankers were observed on tree bark of Terminalia mantaly in Taiwan. A fungus with orange mycelium was consistently isolated and was identified as Aurifilum marmelostoma based on the morphological characteristics and two genetic markers: internal transcribed spacer and β-tubulin gene regions. The fungus produced similar canker symptoms after inoculation of T. mantaly and T. catappa seedlings. To our knowledge, this is the first record of A. marmelostoma in Asia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
