Abstract

This article presents the profile of municipal teachers and identifies aspects that, according to them, should guide the continuing education processes. The survey was developed with 533 public school teachers from 10 municipalities of the State of São Paulo. The methodological approach used was quantitative, of the descriptive survey type. We used a questionnaire to collect empirical data and content analysis to categorize the information. We found significant aspects that can guide continuing education policy proposals, based on the teachers' needs and expectations, trying to articulate theory and practice. These aspects are relevant for the effective fulfilling of the continuing education role. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
