Abstract
- The article focuses on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as a functional disease and its impact on enteric nervous system. Topics discussed include symptoms in IBS such as abnormal motility; influence of IBS on central nervous system as a factor for abnormal motility, investigation of presence of corticotrophin-releasing factor for determination of significance of gastrointestinal tract in the disease such as increasing colonic motility and development of depression and anxiety due to IBS.
