Abstract

The transformation follows an initial iodine-catalyzed reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarins with carbonyl compounds to biscoumarins followed by lactone ring opening, cyclization, and oxidative aromatization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
